Senior Infants had great fun and learned all about Space during Space Week. We made rockets at our Junk Art station during Aistear. We had lots of astronauts blasting off to space in our role play area. We learned about famous astronauts Neil Armstrong and Chris Hadfield and discovered what it's like to live on the International Space Station. We also made our own rockets and predicted how far they would travel.
A huge congratulations to our girls 7-a-side football team that qualified for the Cumamn na mBunscoil finals this week. They displayed great courage, skills, team spirit and no little passion in a very competitive tournament held in Clonberne GAA this week. The finals are due to take place on the 21st of October in Loughgeorge at 9.30am. If you are free, please come and support the girls.
Recently, Dunmore NS took part in a football blitz organised by Mercy and St.Jarlaths secondary schools in Tuam. We entered 3 boys and 2 girls teams made up of 5th and 6th class students. All teams did their school proud with 1 of the boys teams narrowly losing the final to Gardenfield. Well done all!
Junior infants have been very busy over the past few weeks. In Aistear our theme is Spring and the garden center. We are learning all about planting seeds and how plants grow. In maths, We have been measuring objects in our classroom using lots of different materials. Finally we celebrated World Book Day by bringing in and talking about our favourite books. We also did some Paired Reading with 4th class.
